To simplify the installation a T bar should be made. It will make the layout much easier and it will hold up the cross arm. This will save you from working against the spring tension.
Make the T bar from 3/8" rod, make it to fit the largest hatch opening of the bins you are going to install openers on.
Put the leg of the T bar through the back rail hole and center the to of the T bar with the center of the hole
Mark the holes for the back rails as per the individual instruction.

After the cross arm and springs have been installed you can put the T bar under the cross arm to hold the cross arm up.

The brackets on the collar will interfere with the operation of the lid and need to be removed. A small grinder will do it.

The lid is very deep and having the back rail below the lid will not work well. Put the back rail 2" down and cut out the back of the lid to accommodate the rail.
This collar has a tendency to go oval, making it difficult to get the opener to function properly, prior to installing the opener the collar has to be bent inward un till the lid fits over it without being forced. this can be done with a cresent wrench. The springs will hold the lid shut but they will not force the lid down.

Rather than drilling the hole for the cable, the cable can be looped through the hinge bracket on the lid.
